RiverMuse was founded in 2008 by Phil Tee, Fred Mutavdzic and, Mike Silvey, who each have have a 20 year track record in Network Management.
RiverMuse is the open source alternative to commoditised fault management solutions: enterprise consoles, event correlation and topology discovery and monitoring.
Combining RiverMuse's OpenMOS [Open Management Operating System] with a community of open source developers, will enable operations management customers, whether systems, network, applications or serice oriented, to benefit from the availability of an enterprise-class platform delivering class-leading functionality with the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry, all for a fraction of the price of the legacy solutions in the market today.
Saddened by the fact that, while there has been no new innovation in Fault Management software since SMARTs and Riversoft in 1998 and, market consolidation has enabled a clutch of major vendors to price gouge a captive customer base, we decided to deliver a fault management solution that surpasses the functionality of all the commercial platforms, (IBM Tivoli Netcool, HP OpenView Operations / TeMIP, and Microsoft MoM), offers the lowest license costs and TCO in history, while delivering the best implementation and administration experience.
We plan on transforming the Network Management market by innovating features and functionality that deliver the best user experience imaginable and change the economics of the user community, not only in terms of the investment in cash and resources required to commission and maintain fault management solutions but also with respect their adaptability to changes in the managed infrastructure and business process integration demands.
RiverMuse is built by a team of original founders of Micromuse® and RiverSoft® (now owned by IBM and marketed as IBM Tivoli Netcool Omnibus and Precision/IP Manager, Cisco InfoCenter and HP OpenView Advanced Edition). Combined, the team have over 60 years experience in Fault Management, Enterprise Consoles, Event Management and Correlation, Layer Independent Topology Discovery Containment and Root Cause Analysis.
RiverMuse has the most experienced Fault Management team in the industry.
Well, although we are here to make profits, we’ve made RiverMuse Open Source because we actually believe that the core functionality of Fault Management should be a commodity component of operations infrastructure processes. We feel that some vendors have taken advantage of the fact that there is no competition in the market to use Fault Management as a Tax on their customers, in the form of increasing license, maintenance and services revenues, without delivering correspondingly increasing capability and value.
